Samuel Griffith was a shopkeeper in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. These are newspaper advertisements showing many of the things he sold and give an indication of his business philosophies as well as his integrity as a man.
It appears as though this may have been a family business. His father John was also a shopkeeper and Richard Champney was his sister’s husband.
